Eid Mubarak

A Special Eid gift

Before the celebrations duly start
Remember those distant but near to our heart

Whose Eid al-Adha holds little activity
But hardship substitutes their festivity

Our pleasures and comforts may not reach all
For on their faces, gentle tears still fall

And while our cooking pots brew with plenty
The needy long to fill their stomach- empty

Who carry their sorrow, barely alive
Their pain is their luggage, their will-to survive

So in setting the table, make room for one extra
And welcome the hungry, the lonely,the beggar

Eid is a reminder of their poor state
In sharing our gifts, their poverty, we alleviate

So during the sacrifice do not utter for me!
But save a kind portion for the struggling family

And give praise to Allah, and duua for each family
May Allah bless us
